Player Profile Terms of Service and Consent Agreement
Effective Date: March 20, 2026
By creating a player profile with the National Snooker League (“NSL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), registering as a player, participating in any NSL events, activities, or services, or otherwise indicating acceptance of these Terms (including by clicking “I Agree” or similar), you (“Player,” “you,” or “your”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and Consent Agreement (“Agreement”).
If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction (typically 18), your parent or legal guardian must also accept these terms on your behalf.
1. Player Profile and Participation
You represent and warrant that all information you provide in your NSL player profile (including name, biographical details, contact information, performance history, photographs, and any other data) is accurate, complete, and not misleading. You agree to update your profile promptly if any information changes. The NSL reserves the absolute right to verfiy identies of all players registered to play.
2. Grant of Rights: Name, Image, Likeness, Video, and Publicity
In consideration of the opportunity to create a profile, participate in NSL events, leagues, tournaments, rankings, promotions, or related activities (collectively, “NSL Activities”), you hereby irrevocably grant to NSL and its affiliates, successors, assigns, licensees, partners, sponsors, advertisers, broadcasters, media outlets, and any other third parties authorized by NSL (collectively, “Authorized Parties”):
A worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable license and right to use, reproduce, display, distribute, broadcast, transmit, modify, create derivative works from, and otherwise exploit your name, nickname, autograph, voice, signature, biographical information, performance data, likeness, image, photograph, portrait, video footage, audio recordings, statements, and any other indicia of your identity or persona (collectively, “Likeness”) in any and all media now known or hereafter developed (including but not limited to print, digital, online, social media, television, streaming, video games, merchandise, promotional materials, advertising, and marketing).
The right to use your Likeness in connection with NSL Activities, the promotion of snooker, the NSL brand, rankings, events, sponsors, partners, advertisers, or any related commercial or non-commercial purposes.
The right to film, record, photograph, or otherwise capture your participation in NSL Activities (including matches, practices, interviews, or appearances) and to use, edit, and exploit such recordings without restriction.
You waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, any use of your Likeness, or any attribution/credit. You agree that no further approval or compensation is required for any use hereunder.
3. Data Sharing and Privacy Consent
You consent to NSL collecting, storing, processing, and using your personal data (including contact details, profile information, performance statistics, health-related data if voluntarily provided, and any other information submitted or generated through your participation).
You expressly consent to NSL sharing, disclosing, transferring, or otherwise making available your personal data and Likeness to Authorized Parties, including partners, sponsors, advertisers, broadcasters, affiliates, service providers, and other third parties for purposes including (but not limited to) marketing, advertising, promotions, analytics, event management, rankings, and commercial exploitation.
This consent is perpetual and survives termination of your profile or participation. You acknowledge that data may be transferred internationally, including to jurisdictions with different data protection standards.
4. Representations and Warranties
You represent and warrant that:
You have full authority to grant the rights and consents in this Agreement.
The rights granted do not infringe any third-party rights (including any existing sponsorship, endorsement, or image rights agreements).
You will not engage in conduct that brings NSL or snooker into disrepute.
5. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue NSL and all Authorized Parties from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, expenses (including attorneys’ fees), or injuries (including death) arising out of or related to:
Your participation in NSL Activities;
The use or exploitation of your Likeness or data as permitted herein;
Any injury, loss, or damage suffered during NSL Activities (whether from negligence or otherwise, except gross negligence or willful misconduct in jurisdictions where such carve-outs are required);
Any alleged invasion of privacy, right of publicity, defamation, false light, or similar claim related to the permitted use of your Likeness or data.
6. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NSL and all Authorized Parties from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from:
Your breach of this Agreement;
Any third-party claim related to your Likeness, data, or conduct;
Your participation in NSL Activities.
You consent and agree that any prize money you win may be taxable in your jurisdiction and that is entirely up to you the inidvidual recipient to do your own due diligence regarding your local, state/provincial or federal tax obligations. The NSL takes no responsibilty to any individuals tax obligations and advises all prize money recipients to consult their local tax authority. Regulation 105 withholding: Canada requires payers to withhold 15% on fees, prizes, or other amounts paid to non-residents for services rendered in Canada. Pool/billiards tournaments qualify as this involves an athlete or competitor performing in Canada.
This is treated similarly to independent athletes or entertainers. Prize money is subject to the 15% gross withholding (not a final tax). The National Snooker League Inc. (NSL) acts strictly as an administrative agent and custodial trustee for the player-funded prize purse (approx $200 CAD per entry* subject to minimum number of entries). 100% of each player’s payment, less applicable league membership, licensing, taxes and administrative fees is allocated to the prize purse held in trust and distributed to event winners. Sales tax is applied strictly to the league membership, licensing and administration fees. This is applicable for all payments for Canadian residents.
7. Limitation of Liability
NSL AND AUTHORIZED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, ARISING FROM THIS AGREEMENT OR YOUR PARTICIPATION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. NSL’S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 USD.
8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Canada or the United States of America Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ontario Canada. You waive any objection to venue or inconvenience of forum.
9 Adherence to NSL rules
By registering, players agree to these terms.
Use of the service implies full compliance.
Rules apply to all matches and events.
SPR Handicap System Licensing and Compliance
The NSL utilizes the SPR handicap system.
This system is used under license from SPR147 Inc.
Players must use the official SPR handicap rating.
Manipulating or faking scores is strictly forbidden.
Ratings adjust automatically based on match data.
Discrepancies must be reported immediately.
Mandatory App Usage
All scoring must occur inside the official app.
Scores must be entered before the deadline.
Opponents must verify live scores digitally.
Paper or verbal scores are invalid.
Violations and Penalties
First offense: Warning and score review.
Second offense: Match forfeiture.
Repeated abuse: Permanent account ban
10. Miscellaneous
This Agreement is binding on your heirs, successors, and assigns.
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
NSL may update these Terms; continued use constitutes acceptance.
This is the entire agreement regarding your profile and consents.
By creating your profile or participating, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms, including the broad grants of rights, data sharing, release, waiver, and indemnification provisions designed to protect NSL from liability.
